scar correction
Scars are visible defects of the skin, that remain after the healing of a wound. On average it takes one year for a scar to fully relax.
Scars are formed after deep skin damage.
The appearance of a scar depends on:
- the type and size of the wound
- the personal predisposition of the individual to developing scars.
The desire to remove scars can arise for cosmetic reasons but also because of the possible inconvenience, caused by the scar.
Keloid scars are a special kind of hypertrophic scars. While ordinary scars are limited to the place of the injury, keloid scars also grow over the borders of the injury. This type of scar is thick and red or dark coloured and can be sensitive.
A certified plastic surgeon is trained to treat these scars in order to minimise the scar. Mostly multiple treatments are needed that take on average more than a year.
Recent studies have confirmed that several sessions of Medical Needling can dramatically improve the healing and the appearance of the scar. In Germany, Medical Needling is already refundable in certain cases of burns.
