BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH OWN FAT TISSUE - LIPOFILLING - HYBRID BREAST AUGMENTATION
- A breast augmentation can also be performed wholly or partly (hybrid breast augmentation) with fat tissue or lipofilling.
- A hybrid breast augmentation is a breast augmentation in which breast implants are combined with the injection of additional fat.
- Breast augmentation with own fat tissue (BRAVA) is also sometimes referred to as a "natural" form of breast augmentation because the breasts are enlarged without the addition of implants.
However, with the latest generation of breast implants we often achieve a much more natural result. Read more about the natural breast augmentation with implants here.
Also know that one single BRAVA surgery will rarely create as much volume as with the placement of implants where you can choose the size in advance. In addition, the BRAVA procedure requires that there is sufficient usable fat present and a certain discipline from the patient (wearing the BRAVA cups).
The hybrid breast augmentation tries to remedy these negatives by first adding an implant.
The pioneer of BRAVA's technique combined with fat grafting is Dr. Roger Khouri of the Miami Breast Center (where Dr. Nelissen has already trained several times).
Fat "Grafting" = the transfer of body tissue (in this case: fat) from the abdomen, buttocks or legs to the breasts.
It is therefore a breast augmentation with the body's own (autologous) fat, which is harvested prior to the same procedure (elsewhere in the body) via liposuction. So you get "2 for 1" treatments namely liposuction and breast augmentation.
- Good disciplined preparation is essential: the breast volume is increased and the breast tissue is prepared.
This gives a better blood flow so that the injected fat can survive better. This is done by "disciplinary" wearing BRAVA cups (external device that exerts a gentle suction force) for several weeks.
Requirements for this procedure are a great discipline (number of hours per day/night carrying the BRAVA cups) and the presence of sufficient own fat reserves, making it not always the most suitable solution.
