what is the fillING of a breast implant?
An implant can be filled with different material: silicone, saline, hydrogel,...
- Plastic Surgeon Dr. Nelissen prefers cohesive silicone implants because they are safe (minimal risk of leakage), feel natural and have a long service life.
- The silicone gel is cohesive: preformed with a viscose consistency and therefore as one cohesive whole in the implant envelope.
- Because the gel is not liquid, the risk of leakage problems is minimized. The implant envelope is monobloc, which means that the filler and the envelope (shell) form 1 fused cohesive whole.
- Many patients also find that silicone implants feel softer and more like natural breasts than saline implants.
- The risk of hardening or contracture is less than 0.5% with this type of implant. In addition, an extra guarantee is given (ask for this during your consultation).
