FACELIFT
Indications
The effects of time and gravity lead to drooping and sagging of the subcutaneous tissues of the face.
While non-invasive methods for facial rejuvenation can go a long way in bridging the path to surgery, the results achieved in a surgical facelift are superior in countering skin laxity, reducing wrinkles and folds, and improving a tired-looking appearance.
A facelift does not aim to change who you are, but to recapture a more youthful and refreshed version of yourself.
A facelift “turns back the clock”, improving the visible signs of aging by improving the jaw line and the jowls and deep folds on the cheeks.
Treatment
A MACS lift is designed to perform a lifting of the lower two-thirds of the face, easily and with minimum imposition and risk for the patient.
MACS stands for "Minimal Access Cranial Suspension" stands – which means by making a minimal incision (Minimal Access) creating a suspension (Suspension) of the tissues upwards (Cranial).
In order to accomplish the treatment, the plastic surgeon only needs to open a very limited skin area right in front of the ear.
A MACS-lift is less invasive than other techniques. The results are equal to those that can be achieved using more traditional techniques, however the recovery time is much faster.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULT LAST?
Keep in mind that no plastic surgery procedure can stop time. However it has become possible to turn back time a number of years, at least visually. The durability of the result also depends on your lifestyle and genetic factors.

YOUR PERSONAL ANTI-AGING PROJECT
Read here about the importance of combination treatments and how we create a personal anti-aging program for each patient, the so-called “customised anti-wrinkle treatment“.
Course of your treatment
We refer to the information mentioned in course of treatment. Please read this information very carefully.
A second consultation (preferably together with your partner) is mandatory for a facelift.
During this consultation, a wrinkle relaxing injection treatment is possible for the upper third part of the face, which will relax the muscles of the face, resulting in an easier recovery after the operation.
Postoperative care
It is important to remember that a facelift is surgery, requiring diligent post-operative care.
The first week after surgery, it is extremely important to attend all postoperative visits to re-assure and guide you with the healing process.
Side-effects / postoperative complications
This surgery has the same risks as any other surgery. Please read more information on possible side effects. The specific risks and possible complications are also explained during the interview with the plastic surgeon.
Specific possible complications to a facelift are:
bleeding, infection and wound healing disorders, nerve damage, paresis or paralysis.
With smokers, the wound heals less smooth and sometimes even opens up again. In such a case healing takes slightly longer and the scar usually heals less attractive.
